Resurrection is the Answer

Sunday, April 21st, 2019

Message by Pastor Sam Wong

Text: John 20:1-9

Sermon Outline:
One of the biggest mysteries in history: the rise of Christianity
Jesus’ message:
1. Not a new ideology
• Not to revolt against the Romans (Matthew 21:21; John 18:36)
• Not to deny Judaism (Matthew 5:17)

2. The core is Jesus Himself
• He is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16)
• Seeing Him is seeing the Father (John 14:9)
• He is life (John 1:4; 10:28; 14:6)

3. Resurrection is the only reasonable explanation (John 20:1-9)
• First group of witnesses were women
• Disciples’ first reaction: nonsense (Luke 24:11)
• John: saw and believed
• Disciples’ subsequent transformation (Acts 3:15)

I Am The Resurrection And The Life!

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

Message by Pastor Tom

Pastor Tom shares with us that the death of Jesus and his public execution at the hands of the Roman soldiers was not the last word. Like a cosmic chess master, God still had one more move to make.

Can We Handle The Truth?

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Message by Pastor Tom

What is the truth? Truth is more than believing in Christ’s death, the one who is truth says to us, take up my cross. It is a place of submission, a place of surrender and a place of obedience.

The Risen Life

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

“The angels said to them: “Don’t be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised from the dead, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, “He has been raised from the dead, and he is going ahead of you, and you will see him.” Matthew 28:5-7

“Therefore we have been buried with Christ by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

The resurrection of Jesus was a hidden event. Jesus didn’t rise from the grave to baffle or overwhelm his opponents, to make a victory statement, or to prove to those who crucified him that he was right after all. Jesus rose as a sign to those who loved him and followed him that God’s divine love is stronger than death. To the women and men who committed themselves to him, he revealed that his mission had been fulfilled. To those who shared in his ministry, he gave the sacred task to call all people into the new life with him. The world didn’t take notice. Only those whom he called by name, with whom he broke bread, and to whom he spoke words of peace were aware of what happened. Still, it was this hidden event that freed humanity from the shackles of death. Have you experienced that freedom? Are you inviting others to share this new life?

A Prayer: O God, help me to know and appreciate the awesome mysteries of redemption that are largely hidden from our view and help me to live, each and every day, in the wonder of your grace. Amen.
